This guided city walk takes a closer look at the beginnings of Frankfurt as well as the laws governing the election of kings and emperors, coronation rituals and ceremonies and their significance within the context of the city’s historical development. Moreover, it follows the footsteps of the renowned emperor Charlemagne, known to be the founding father of Frankfurt (794 AD), and other famous kings and emperors. The walk also covers former electoral sites and festival venues where the coronations were celebrated with much pomp and circumstance.
